Comedian DeeOne Claims Olu Maintain Tarnished Nigeria’s Image with ‘Yahoo’ Song
Comedian and reality show star Aderombi Adedayo, best known by his stage name DeeOne, has disclosed how musician Olu Maintain damaged Nigeria’s reputation.
When DeeOne appeared on the Echo Room podcast, he made the assertion.
Speaking about the harm that scammers’ actions have caused to Nigeria, the comedian charged Olu Maintain with contributing to the hardship that Nigerians are going through.
He pointed out that Olu Maintain’s popular song “Yahooze” helped make Yahoo Yahoo a recognized career in Nigeria.
“Are you aware that Olu Maintain is a fantastic artist? I adore his art, but did you realize that Olu Maintain is one among the persons who has tarnished this nation’s reputation?
“Everyone who was involved with Yahoo Yahoo-419 felt ashamed of it many years ago in Nigeria. They were unable to publicly declare that I am a 419. You’re going to tell someone that this man is like, “Ee be like, say na 419.” Even if they were making a lot of money, it was a shameful thing. Olu Maintain then arrived with the popular song “Yahoo.”
The entire nation began to celebrate, even going so far as to have a dance. We were unaware of the consequences. As they listened to the music and took in the atmosphere, young boys and babies at the time were inspired. As a result, Yahoo Yahoo is now a recognized career in Nigeria. As you are aware, the largest Black population is found in Nigeria. It has now spread around the world.
“Olu Maintain will say, ‘Oh, it’s the government, but he contributed to one of the sufferings we are enduring today,’ if we are whining about this country right now. They will now look at you and say, “Oh, these people are into fraud,” if you leave Nigeria.
