Nigerian comedian KlintonCod, whose real name is Ekene Clinton Egbuna, has commented on the current controversy involving UK MP Kemi Badenoch and her remarks regarding life at Nigerian boarding schools.
The comedian reportedly responded to the criticism Badenoch received after comparing her experience at a Federal Government Girls’ College in Sagamu to a life sentence.
He claims that a large number of Nigerians seem to despise Badenoch merely because she speaks the truth, even when it is detrimental to the nation.
He described his personal experience in a boys-only boarding school, characterizing the atmosphere as prison-like, with high walls and rigorous schedules.
He claimed that the existence of holidays and midterm breaks was the primary distinction between his school and a prison.

KlintonCod noted that life in those correctional facilities seemed more comfortable than his time at Nigerian boarding school, comparing his experience to that of prisoners he had seen while visiting UK prisons for work.
He wrote: “I have yet to discover a single, convincing explanation for why Nigerians don’t like Kemi Badenoch. As far as I can tell, the main explanation is because she is overly honest, and those who disapprove of her believe that her honesty tends to highlight Nigeria’s shortcomings. Am I right?
Everyone is upset because, according to her, her boarding school in Sagamu was like a prison. You see, I’ve told a lot of people about my own boarding school, which was exclusively for guys, and the truth is that it was also like a jail, with high walls that were securely guarded. We had holidays and midterm breaks, which set us apart from the inmates. Everything else remained the same!
“I’ve never visited a prison in Nigeria, but on the few occasions I’ve visited prisons in the UK for work, the inmates there had a significantly higher standard of living than I did while attending boarding school.
“You can choose to hate her, but you can also accept the truth when someone you don’t like says it.”
