Solomon Dalung, a former minister of sports, talked about a recent incident he had with a bandit on TikTok.
In an interview with News Central, Dalung claimed that when he questioned the bandit about why they were murdering people, he was told that vigilantes also killed them and stole their animals.
The former minister stated that the bandit said this led them to decide to remain in the jungle and take up arms.
He said, ‘’I was on TikTok one day and a young bandit, trained in the bush. He claimed to be an outlaw in the jungle. “Why do you kill people?” I then asked him. and he remarked, “Well, the vigilantes also killed them and took their cattle, so they took up arms and are in the bush.”
“But you also kill fulanis like you and rustle their cows,” I replied. then he said, “Look, the Fulanis in the bush are the only ones they know.” There isn’t a fulani in the community. They will murder them if they come upon them.
According to Dalung, he questioned how to put an end to this pattern of assaulting and disfiguring people. According to him, the bandit’s response was that they were open to discussions about dropping their guns.
Dalung remarked, “The confidence he was talking with was quite scary.”
In order to allow Nigerians to carry weapons for self-defense, he urged the National Assembly to change the constitution.
