Popular social media activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), will be released after fulfilling his bail requirements, according to confirmation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said, “We will take the case to court as soon as possible, and we will release him if he meets his bail conditions.”

He claimed that numerous petitions alleging wrongdoing filed by different people led to VDM’s detention.
“We took him into custody in response to a number of accusations made against him by certain petitioners,” he stated.
The arrest of VDM, which was carried out in Abuja by EFCC agents, has drawn a lot of criticism online, with many people blaming the commission of cracking down on dissent.
According to reports, several young people demanded his immediate release on Monday by taking to the streets of Abuja.
