Fani-Kayode Lists African Countries, Marks Date Nigeria Saved Democracy

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation and ambassador-designate, has disclosed a litany of instances in which Nigeria had to step in to “save democracy” in other African nations.

In response to Nigeria’s involvement in Sunday’s failed coup in the Benin Republic, Fani-Kayode was added to the list.

According to reports, military barracks where soldiers who attempted a coup in Benin were regrouping were blasted by Nigerian Air Force fighter jets. In a statement released on Sunday night, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed the military action.

“We saved democracy, fought injustice, and helped to restore law and order in #Tangayika (now #Tanzania) in 1964,” Fani-Kayode wrote in a post on 𝕏.
