Nigerian national Olumide Adebiyi Adediran is wanted in the US on many fraud-related offenses. The FBI has offered a $10,000 reward for information that could result in his capture and conviction.
According to a notice posted on the FBI’s website on Wednesday, Adediran is accused of bank fraud, identity-document fraud, and credit-card fraud related to occurrences that happened in Illinois as early as 2001.
The 56-year-old allegedly goes by several names, such as Edward N. Anderson, Maxo Alexandre, Eric O. Williams, Olumide Adkins, and Kevin Olumide Adediran. Investigators say he tried to cash fake checks and opened fraudulent bank and credit accounts using stolen U.S. citizen personal information.
According to the authorities, Adediran fled the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, shortly before his trial was about to begin. Then, on January 2, 2002, a federal judge issued a warrant, stating that he had **violated the terms of his parole.
In part, the FBI statement says:
“Olumide Adebiyi Adediran is wanted for violating the terms of his release.” Adediran is accused of breaking into a Champaign, Illinois, bank in August 2001 and trying to take money out of a counterfeit check that had been deposited.
Additionally, he is accused of opening bank and charging accounts using stolen information belonging to US residents. Just before his trial on federal charges of bank fraud, identification document fraud, and credit card fraud was scheduled to start in the Central District of Illinois, Adediran left the district at the end of December 2001.
“A federal arrest warrant was issued for Adediran on January 2, 2002, in the United States District Court, Central District of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, following his alleged violation of conditions of release.”
The fugitive is still included on the FBI’s most-wanted list, and investigators think he may have ties in South Florida.
According to reports, Adediran is 5′ 11″, 200 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.
The FBI reaffirmed, “The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Olumide Adebiyi Adediran,” and encouraged anybody with pertinent information to get in touch with the FBI office, U.S. embassy, or consulate that is closest to them.
