Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has explained why he switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, the governor declared earlier in the week that he would be joining the APC instead of the main opposition party.
Speaking on Friday at the Port Harcourt government house and accepting the APC membership card from Chief Tony Okocha, the party’s chairman, the governor stated that he has chosen to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign.
The governor called the decision a “spiritual assignment,” emphasizing that the state will be able to work well with the president if it joins the APC.
As you have stated, the safety, development, and expansion of Rivers State are at stake, making this a spiritual mission.
“When the President is following one course, we cannot follow a different one.
He declared, “Joining the APC is part of our commitment to ensure a seamless working relationship and to meaningfully contribute to his reelection efforts in Rivers State.”
Governor Fubara thanked the party leadership for the cordial welcome and stated that the stability and growth of the state were the reasons behind his choice to support the APC.
He also promised to support the party’s executives, members, and structure in order to fortify the APC in the state.
“Mr. Chairman, you now live here. You are always welcome to visit here. “Every need of the party will be met, and we will keep the APC active and fully functional in Rivers State,” Governor Fubara declared.
