The Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Mr. Eze Anaba, has been congratulated by the Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, on his election as President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE.
In a letter of congratulations, Radda expressed his happiness over the free of unnecessary bitterness and rancor-free election, which was signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
The Katsina Governor claims that the last Friday’s NGE election, in which the losing candidate “graciously” conceded defeat, provides important lessons in democratic leadership and ensures that the new president of Katsina State is prepared to collaborate with the Editors’ Guild in order to strengthen national unity and hasten the nation’s socioeconomic development.
Radda, on the other hand, counseled Anaba to lead everyone along as he handled the situation of the leading media organization uniting Nigerian editors.
Anaba was chosen as the Guild’s new helmsman on Friday during the 2023 National Biennial Convention of the NGE held in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. Anaba succeeds Mustapha Isah of Silverbird Group.
Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi, the only candidate, received 81 votes in the election, but the Vanguard Editor received 250 votes to defeat him, according to Mrs. Maimuna Garba, the head of the convention’s electoral committee.
Husseina Bangshika, the vice president for the east, Sheddy Ozoene, the vice president for the west, and Umoru Ibrahim, the vice president for the north, are the other newly elected NGE officials.
Others include the general secretary Iyobosa Uwugiaren, the assistant secretary Gabriel Folajimi, the social/publicity secretary Charles Kalu, and the treasurer Steve Osuji.
