Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents the Abia South Senatorial District, has responded angrily to the purported departure of Nigerian military in Kebbi State, claiming that this action allowed for the kidnapping of twenty-four schoolgirls.
Abaribe, speaking on Monday during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, maintained that responsibility must be fixed.
He emphasized that the development calls into question the coordination of national security.
A week following the event, Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, claimed that on November 29, 2025, at around three in the morning, soldiers assigned to guard the school were removed.
It was determined that the terrorists assaulted the school in Maga less than 45 minutes after the troops left.
“Why do we have to argue on this?” was Abaribe’s response to the incident. A commander can be found there. There is a hierarchy, and whomever gave the order to remove troops in Kebbi needs to be fished out.
“The public believes that there is collaboration somewhere since the government and military institutions are doing nothing. And in the event of collaboration, who is safe?
This implies that I’m not safe even if there are troops around. You are no longer convinced that even the troops around you can hand you over to the bandits and then you become a victim.
“That is just the point. There comes a period in the country’s life in which this I don’t know how I would describe it today but I would say that we must terminate all these.”
