The way the Anambra 2025 governorship election was conducted has alarmed the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to reports, the party claimed that rampant monetization and vote-buying corrupted the democratic process throughout the election.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, signed a statement on November 9, 2027, accusing the ruling Anambra party of manipulating the election into a cash-driven battle where money took the place of real political choice.

Large sums of money were publicly given to voters at voting places around the state, according to the ADC, which also claimed that this conduct was a clear violation of the Electoral Act.

The party also criticized the actions of electoral officials and security personnel, claiming that their inaction and silence allowed for voter intimidation and manipulation.

The ADC claimed in the statement that what happened in Anambra was a cash-for-votes bazaar that eroded the spirit of free will rather than a genuine democratic exercise.

The party voiced fear that if this issue is not resolved, it could jeopardize the legitimacy of the general elections in 2027 and increase public mistrust in Nigeria’s electoral system.

The ADC demanded immediate changes and a return to open governance in which political leadership is earned via honesty and service rather than money.

Additionally, it reiterated its dedication to encouraging honest, transparent elections that represent the will of the electorate.
