‘Impossible For Chelsea To Win Title With The Current Team’ – Carragher
Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender and current Sky Sports analyst, has questioned Chelsea’s prospects of winning the Premier League title in the near future.
Carragher contends that the team’s current roster isn’t balanced or of high enough caliber to compete at the highest level.
The former footballer clarified that he was not criticizing head coach Enzo Maresca, saying that Maresca has done “a brilliant job” since coming to Stamford Bridge.
Carragher stated on Tuesday that “the title was never realistically in contention, and he secured Champions League football in his first year.”
“It’s amazing that he won the competitions he entered and got Chelsea back into the Champions League through the league.” It was incredible to not only defeat Paris Saint-Germain but also to completely control them in the Club World Cup.
Carragher was candid about the club’s flaws, especially in recruitment over the past three and a half years, despite his appreciation.
“The Chelsea club is the target of my criticism. How do you still have a team like this after all the money has been spent? He inquired.
“The reality is known among Chelsea supporters. Who were the goalkeepers on the teams that won the league in the past? Courtois Thibaut and Petr Čech. That says it all.
“My main complaint is not with Maresca, but rather that Chelsea still has a goalie and center backs who aren’t good enough to win a championship after years of rebuilding and spending. With that, you can’t win the league. It’s just not feasible.
Carragher asserted that despite Chelsea’s significant investments in young players and strikers, they are unable to compete with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool because they lack established defensive leaders.
Maresca politely dismissed Carragher’s remarks when questioned about them.
The Italian remarked, “Anyone can say what they want.”
Following Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, the manager is still committed to improving results.
According to reports, the Blues will play Lincoln City in the EFL Cup tonight, and supporters are anticipating a reaction.
