Ishaq Abubakar Major, a well-known TikTok content creator, was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly making a viral video accusing Senator Shehu Buba, the senator for the Bauchi South Senatorial District, of having connections to bandit organizations.
According to reports, the Major was hauled up by members of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) near the intersection of Maraba and Nyanya in Abuja.
The TikToker is presently being held at the FCID headquarters, according to SaharaReporters.
However, as at the time this report was filed, it was understood that the police had not released an official announcement regarding his arrest.
Major claimed that Senator Buba was compromised and unfit for public service due to purported ties to armed criminal gangs in a series of TikTok videos and posts that preceded the arrest.
“This newspaper (SaharaReporters) described Senator Buba as a senator that has a relationship with bandits,” Major allegedly stated in one of the widely shared videos. The fact that Senator Shehu Buba is a senator from Bauchi is what I want people to realize.
Because he has the financial means and the desire to become governor, no media would print untrue accusations against him without pursuing legal action.
However, he hasn’t been in court because he is aware that the accusations are true. He hasn’t discussed it up to this point because he is aware that if he does, evidence would be presented that could jeopardize his goal of becoming the governor of Bauchi State.
Senator Under Investigation
Senator Buba, the head of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, has come under increasing fire in recent months, according to Naija News.

a purported peace agreement with Bello Turji, a fugitive terrorist leader.
accusations of escalating Plateau State’s sectarian strife.
allegations in the past of funding criminals to perform the Hajj.
In Jos, he also faced criticism for allegedly providing funds for the building of a multimillion-naira mosque close to the Dariqa Sufi Brotherhood’s Abu Huraira Juma’at Mosque.
There are concerns of conflicts between opposing factions because the new mosque is purportedly meant for the Izala sect, which is led by Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau.
In addition, Christian leaders have called the senator’s purchase and demolition of a church to construct the mosque offensive.
Buba has also come under fire for his involvement in a potential peace agreement with Bello Turji, which was arranged by Sheikh Musa Asadus-Sunnah, a cleric from Kaduna.
The decision was denounced by prominent northern preacher Sheikh Murtala Asadah, who maintained that Turji had to be held accountable for claimed mass murders, kidnappings, and village assaults.
Ahead of the 2027 elections, he also charged the government with ethnic bias and cautioned that such actions would cost President Bola Tinubu political support in the North.
Beyond national scandals, Bauchi South constituents have criticized Buba for funding a significant religious project in Jos while ignoring unfinished projects in his home base, especially an unfinished mosque in Toro.
