Kogi Government Launches Rescue Operation for C&S Church Abductees
After bandits and terrorists attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim chapel in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, the Usman Ododo-led Kogi State Government initiated an air and ground security operation.
A state-deployed helicopter and an anti-kidnapping team can be seen searching the region for the attackers in a video shared on Facebook by Egbe Emekun Parrot and attributed to Olusegun Iselaiye on Sunday, according to Sahara Reporters.
Attempts are being made to find the offenders and ensure the victims’ safe release.
The church pastor, Orlando, and an undetermined number of congregants were reportedly kidnapped by the gunman.
The aftermath of a horrific attack on the church was seen on camera in Ejiba.
The video shows the interior of the church in disorder, with some members’ shoes and Bibles left where they had been sitting.
The individual filming the situation described the kidnapping and begged for help to free the hostages.
“This is the church where they kidnapped people, so I hid.” As you can see, people were abducted at Ejiba. Save us, please. The leader of this congregation, Baba Orlando, was kidnapped. The inside is visible. He remarked in Yoruba, “They didn’t bother to put off the speaker or anything.”
