The Lagos State Government has stated that its environmental inspectors have arrested Nollywood actress Sarah Martins for violating current sanitation and safety rules through her charitable endeavors.
The movie diva reportedly told officers of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force that she was cooking for the underprivileged when they contacted her. She shared her experience on Instagram.
She claimed that after harassing and bullying her, the men took away the food items, cooking gas, and other supplies she used to prepare the meals.
Sarah was cooking on a road median in the Admiralty neighborhood of Lekki Phase 1, which the government characterized as an unauthorized use of public infrastructure, according to a statement released by Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner of Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, via đ.
Wahab pointed out that exploiting public areas for private or business reasons could harm the infrastructure, impede traffic, and endanger the health of locals.
The Commissioner urged people to conduct their charitable endeavors within the bounds of the law, while respecting the significance of charitable endeavors.
In a recent incident in the Admiralty area of Lekki Phase 1, a person was arrested by Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC/KAI) officials for engaging in unauthorized activities on public infrastructure. The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources wishes to address this incident, according to the statement.
“Unfortunately, the person in question violated current environmental and sanitary standards by claiming to be cooking for charity on the road median. Although the Lagos State Government greatly values the generosity and camaraderie displayed by many citizens, such endeavors must be implemented in accordance with the state’s current legislation to guarantee urban order, environmental preservation, and public safety.
“The goal of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is still to make Lagos livable, sustainable, and clean for everybody.” Unauthorized use of public areas, including road medians, for private or business use carries serious dangers, such as disruption of traffic flow, health risks, and infrastructure damage.
