After their £110 million bid for Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, was rejected, Liverpool is ready to give up on the player.
The Magpies, who are apparently demanding an incredible £150 million valuation, fiercely resisted the Premier League winners’ attempts to entice Alexander Isak to Anfield this summer.
Even though the teams started preliminary negotiations in July, Newcastle has maintained that Isak is not for sale. Nevertheless, on August 1, Liverpool formally made a bid of £110 million, which was quickly turned down.
According to a report by BBC Sports, Liverpool may now back out of the agreement because, according to insiders, the club believes there is little likelihood of a successful transfer negotiation given the current situation.
According to reports, Isak, 25, was not included in Newcastle’s preseason squad for their Asia tour, and the team blamed his absence on a “minor thigh injury.”
However, reports in England assert that the player is eager to consider a move away, despite Newcastle’s qualification for this season’s UEFA Champions League.

After a fantastic stint in La Liga before joining Newcastle in 2022 for £60 million, he is still a fan favorite at his old club, Real Sociedad, where he has apparently been training alone.
Under Coach Arne Slot, Liverpool had previously considered a deal for Isak that may have cost up to £130 million. The Reds were still interested in the Swedish attacker even after they paid £69 million to recruit French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Slot’s team has already made significant purchases this window, adding Armin Pecsi, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez.
The departure of important players like Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhin Kelleher has reportedly brought in about £115 million, while the total spending has reportedly reached about £265 million.
After a fantastic 2024–2025 season in which he finished as Newcastle’s top scorer with 27 goals in 42 games, Isak’s reputation has skyrocketed.
Even though they were a top target, Liverpool now seems prepared to put the Alexander Isak trade on hold until Newcastle changes their mind.
