Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has criticized Peter Obi’s former Labour Party presidential candidate’s followers for referring to their principle as the best of all the coalition’s contenders.
In an interview with Channels Television, Momodu also criticized the Obidients for demanding that Obi become the party’s 2027 presidential contender.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine claimed that Obidients’ description of their principal as “the best” of ADC leaders is an insult to other coalition leaders.
The former presidential candidate was responding to remarks made by Obi’s allies, economist Prof. Pat Utomi and rights activist Aisha Yesufu, who had threatened to withdraw their support if Obi did not receive the ADC presidential ticket.
Yesufu, who was previously echoed by Utomi, believes that Obi is the best political figure in the ADC and shouldn’t take a backseat to anyone in the coalition.
In response, Momodu claimed that the narrative emanating from certain segments of the Obidient movement was divisive and disparaging of other notable members of the party.
“I read stories where someone said, ‘Why will the best of us always be playing second fiddle to the worst of us?'” when I discussed people being boisterous.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine questioned, “What determines who is the worst of us?”
