According to Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerians do not read extensively.
He went on to urge Nigerians to read important economic policy publications more, such as the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update.
He gave a speech on Monday in Abuja during the launch of the May edition of NDU.
“I genuinely want to thank the World Bank for investing the time and energy to release this booklet every six months; I find it to be quite helpful.
But it seems to me that Nigerians might not read enough. They don’t exploit such helpful analysis that is easily accessible, and therefore policymakers,” he added.

He asserts that Nigeria’s economic stability is its apex bank.
“We make sure that we are keeping an eye on and making sure that we stay ahead of price stability and financial stability,” he continued.
According to reports, Nigeria’s economy was assessed as good by the World Bank in 2024, with a growth rate of 3.4 percent.
