On the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Nigerian musician Tiwa Savage exchanged cordial cultural pleasantries with former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, sparking comments on social media.
According to reports, attendees were drawn to the brief interaction between the two in the video that went viral on social media.
The fusion of culture and diplomacy at the international occasion was reflected in the Afrobeats queen’s customary Nigerian way of properly acknowledging Osinbajo.
“Culture is a thing of pride in this part of the world, look at how Tiwa Savage culturally greets Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on the sidelines of the UNGA in New York,” commented Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential assistant who also posted the video via 𝕏.
The gesture also elicited reactions from other internet users.
