Amid growing concerns over the country’s hardship, Agbo Major, the National Chairman of the NNPP, has stated that Nigerians will decide President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political future in 2027.

Speaking in Agbo Although the Tinubu administration has taken several important choices that could have long-term effects, the present problems have been exacerbated by the lack of appropriate preemptive actions.

“I don’t believe in judging any government too early,” he stated. Nigerians are aware, nevertheless, that this government took over a problematic country. A number of policy actions have made hardship worse, most notably the elimination of the fuel subsidy without sufficient buffering measures.

“That being said, there’s also the argument that no prosperous nation ever succeeded without making difficult decisions,” he continued. The timing and absence of protections are the problems, not the elimination of the subsidy per se. Energy and other necessities are subsidized in the majority of nations. Its abrupt removal without providing a safe landing for residents has caused anguish all throughout the country.

“But we must also acknowledge that the policy has increased revenue to states and local governments; the question now is how those leaders are using the extra funds,” Agbo said, acknowledging a benefit of the withdrawal of subsidies.

He said in reference to Tinubu’s chances of winning a second term: “So, does Tinubu deserve another term? Nigerians will have to respond to the question by 2027 depending on their feelings. People might choose to give him another chance if things go better. Otherwise, the ballot will do the talking.
