Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president, has urged Nigerians to start asking the appropriate questions about the threat posed by Boko Haram.
He bemoaned the fact that Nigerians now had to deal with the Boko Haram insurgency on a daily basis.
At the book’s unveiling in Abuja on Friday, “Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum,” written by former Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Lucky Irabor, he expressed his misgivings.
According to Obasanjo, who penned the book’s foreword, “Boko Haram is now almost a part of our lives.” Shall we agree to that? What should we do if we shouldn’t accept it?
To what extent do we know? Have we been aggressive enough, even from this side and the other? Have we taken enough initiative?
“I believe that in order to deal with this issue that is now turning into a monster in our nation, we must ask ourselves the right questions.”
Therefore, in order to give solutions to the Boko Haram threat in Nigeria, he advocated for more critical conversations.
But according to Obasanjo, the former CDS displayed bravery by writing the book and sharing his firsthand knowledge of the fight against terrorism.
