Obasanjo Reveals the only Nigerian Pastor He Believes will make Heaven
Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has said that just one pastor in his country will make it to heaven.
At the late Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang’s funeral service on Friday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, Obasanjo made the comment.
The former president claimed that because Mbang was not just straightforward but also a man of tremendous intelligence, he is the only Nigerian Christian leader who can be certain to enter paradise.
When Obasanjo was considering campaigning for president of Nigeria in 1998, shortly after his release from prison, he claimed that he spoke with Mbang. He claimed that Mbang’s counsel was priceless to him and that he greatly benefited from it.
Obasanjo added that Mbang was a man whose counsel was frequently sought for due to his candor.
He stated that Mbang would visit Akwa Ibom State under the guise of wanting to see the governor, but that he was actually traveling to see Mbang when Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State wanted to get Mbang’s view on any pressing problem.
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Mbang, the first black president of the World Methodist Council and a former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), passed away in Uyo. Age-wise, he was 86.
