After Peter Obi defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, said that the movement will function inside the organization.
He said that the Obidient Movement would support Peter Obi in his new party and function within democratic norms.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Tanko reportedly made the statement in response to Obi’s defection from the Labour Party to ADC.
He expressed optimism that Obi will get the ADC ticket.
“As Democrats, we will enter the race and treat each candidate fairly and according to democratic principles. With the enormous teaming population he is bringing into the ADC, we think Mr. Peter Obi will win in the end,” he stated.
But he also stated that the Obidient movement will uphold democratic values if Obi lost the ADC presidential nomination to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Yunusa responded, “We will remain at the party and give the party the lease of life it demands democratically,” when asked what the movement would do in the event that former vice president Atiku Abubakar wins the party primary.
“With all due respect to the ADC, it gained momentum when people began to support it. His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi’s enthusiasm was evident yesterday as the ADC car ignited with a single kick.
Several Obidient Movement members are prepared to relocate to the ADC, he continued.
They will transfer their millions into the ADC, and they have made that position quite clear. “That is a confirmation,” he said.
