Peter Obi Will Not Contest in 2027, Rejected Our Presidential Offer – Labour Party’s Farouk

The rumor that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, would run for president in 2027 has been refuted by Umar Farouk, the National Secretary of the party, who is loyal to Julius Abure, the factional chairman.

This was said to occur just hours after Peter Obi declared that he was a member of the Labour Party and that his name will appear on the 2027 ballot.

Farouk stated that Peter will not run for office in 2027 and was just content with his current level of media attention in an interview with Trust TV on Thursday.

Farouk claims that Peter Obi turned down the Labour Party’s offer of the presidential ticket.

In addition, the LP National Secretary questioned Peter Obi’s present political identification, claiming that his previous actions had raised doubts about his party affiliation.

He declared, “I can assure you that Obi will not run for president.” Although Obi enjoys media attention, he has no interest in it in 2027. He turned down our offer to run for president.

Farouk added that the opposition parties are now too discouraged to take on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“You see the opponents in every match when you look at those contesting with Tinubu,” he said. Do these people actually oppose one another? There are certain players who will score and others who will miss the penalties, unless the referee wishes to give them penalties.

“I say it here for us in the Labour Party that we do not have any reason for anyone to accuse the APC of interfering in our internal crisis,” he said, adding that the APC should not be held responsible for the crisis within opposition parties.
