Peter Okoye: “We Prayed for Fame, But Now I Hide My Face in Public”
After working in the entertainment industry for nearly thirty years, Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, better known by his stage name Mr. P, has discussed the difficulties of celebrity.
According to reports, Mr. P claimed in an FM interview that he is currently avoiding public attention even though he prayed for stardom.
The musician claimed that whenever he goes out or travels, he frequently dons sunglasses, facemasks, and face caps.
Peter Okoye recalled how much he missed the simple joys of eating his favorite meals, such as bread, akara, and drinks, and how he longed for normalcy even though he couldn’t do it again without getting noticed.

“In the past, we would pray for fame, but now, when I travel or go out, I cover my face with a facemask, a face cap, and even sunglasses to prevent being noticed,” he stated. We prayed fervently for this game back then, but now that I’ve worked in the field for thirty years, I believe it’s time to live my life.
“The majority of us celebs have unpleasant aspects of our existence. On some days when I’m driving, I’d like to pull over and get some food, like hot akara, but I have to send someone to keep from getting caught. However, by the time the individual leaves, purchases the slats, and returns, the temperature has dropped. I miss being able to have the finest burger ever—Akara Bread and Co., ABC. I still enjoy that way of life.
