Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua’s driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the deadly collision that killed two of his companions has been taken into custody.
The arrest was reportedly verified on Thursday by Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Ogun State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer.
Joshua was released from Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, late on Wednesday night after medical professionals determined he was clinically able to complete his recuperation at home.
Remember that the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and his team collided with a stalled truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Monday.
Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Kevin Latif Ayodele, his personal trainer, were two of his close associates who perished in the collision.
Five adult males were engaged in the collision, according to information previously released by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Two fatalities were reported, one person was injured, and two others managed to escape unharmed.
Preliminary studies, according to the FRSC, identified excessive speed and improper overtaking as the primary causes of deadly accidents on Nigerian roadways.
“The driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case,” Babaseyi wrote in a quick message on his verified X (previously Twitter) handle, confirming the development. Investigations are still going on.
