Regarding a planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian presidency has provided an update.
Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu’s special adviser on media and policy communication, expressed hope that President Tinubu and his American counterpart will soon meet.
According to reports, Bwala made the claim during an interview on “Prime Time” on Arise Television on Monday.
“I said Tinubu and Trump will hopefully meet, either at the White House or the State House,” Bwala stated.
“It might occur at any moment. Protocol is crucial in diplomacy. When constructing something, it needs to be safeguarded and maintained.
“We will not be coerced into disclosing the current stage of this conversation because protocol must be respected in diplomacy.”
He went on to deny rumors that the US will not impose sanctions on Nigerians.
He claims that Nigerians will be the ones who suffer the most if sanctions are put in place.
“It is the people who will bear the brunt if sanctions are imposed on Nigerians,” he declared.
“Trump doesn’t harbor resentment; he speaks his mind and then things go back to normal.
“The Nigerian government is responding to Trump’s message, which it has obviously comprehended. We’ll soon start to see results.
This is the second time the presidential adviser has said that his principle will meet with Donald Trump following the US President’s threat of a military invasion of Nigeria due to claims of Christian genocide there.
