A number of documents allegedly belonging to President Bola Tinubu have been validated and admitted as evidence by the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) in Abuja. These documents include a B.Sc certificate from Chicago State University, a NYSC Discharge Certificate, and a Mobil Nigeria Oil Plc certificate of service, among others.
On Friday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar, the party’s candidate, presented the court with their candidate’s academic and professional records.
Atiku and the PDP are contesting the results of the presidential election that took place on February 25, which placed Bola Tinubu in the position of president.
The Private Democratic Party (PDP) had presented the documents by means of a Private Legal Practitioner named Mike Enahoro-Ebah, who was called as a witness.
The petitioners claim that Tinubu purportedly obtained the documents, but they bore the name ‘Bola Adekunle Tinubu’ on them instead.
The witness presented forms EC13 and EC9 nomination forms as well as letters that were written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as attachments to their testimony, which was led in evidence by Chris Uche, the lead Counsel for the PDP.
The witness referred to, amongst other things, certified true copies of form EC9 (Nomination letter of Tinubu, receipt of payment for certification, witness application letter, requesting for the documents, INEC’s Letter of response), Certificate from Chicago university belonging to the 2nd respondent (Tinubu), NYSC discharge certificate belonging to the 2nd respondent, with the name Tinubu Bola Adekunle, Certificate of service from Mobile Oil Nigeria PLC., and Party Membership car registration certificate
The witness also submitted academic records from Chicago university, as well as a copy of the subpoena that was served on Chicago university, the original academic records and degree certificate, original admission letter, and original transcript from South west college to the school Tinubu attended, all of which were given to Chicago university with the gender referred to as Female.
Additionally, he provided a cover note authorising the judgement as well as a notarized judgement issued by the United States of America for the criminal forfeiture of assets belonging to Tinubu. In addition to that, excerpts from a Guinean passport as well as Tinubu’s certificate of compliance were shown to the audience.
When the lead counsel for the PDP made the application to tender the documents, all of the respondents, including Counsel to INEC, Abubakar Mahmoud; Counsel to Tinubu, Emmanuel Ukala; and Counsel to the APC, Lateef Fagbemi, all objected to the admissibility of the documents.
During the course of Counsel to INEC, Abubakar Mahmoud’s cross-examination of the witness, the witness stated that he has not spent an excessive amount of money despite his efforts to inform Nigerians of the truth.
In addition, the PDP offered the following pieces of evidence: a Forms EC8A, as well as their certified copies, were submitted by all 25 LGAs in the state of Delta. In the state of Ebonyi, certified true copies of the forms EC8A were obtained from 13 local government areas. Forms EC8A have been certified as true copies for all 18 local government areas in Edo state., Certified true copies of forms EC8A from each of Enugu state’s 17 local government areas Certified true copies of forms EC8A from each of the 27 local government areas (LGAs) in Imo state, as well as certified true copies of forms EC8A from each of the 21 LGAs in Kogi state.
