Gianluca Nani, the technical director of the Udinese Group, has praised Super Eagles goalie Maduka Okoye, stating that the Nigerian has been playing so well in practice that “it was almost impossible to score against him.”
Maduka Okoye served a two-month suspension due to betting-related issues, but he returned to Udinese’s starting lineup for Monday night’s Serie A encounter against US Cremonese.
Romanian goalie Razvan Sava filled in for the 24-year-old, who missed the team’s first six league games.
Despite missing almost five months of competitive play, Okoye appeared confident between the posts during his comeback, controlling his area with assurance and displaying no signs of rust.
After the game, Nani informed DAZN that Okoye’s training efforts before his comeback had impressed the coaching staff. He claimed that it was nearly difficult to score against Okoye during training because of how effectively he had been preparing lately.
Since he’s our starting goalie and there were never any questions, we’re thrilled to have him back. However, I want to applaud whoever took his place since they did a great job.
Prior to the World Cup playoffs next month, Okoye, who moved from Watford to Udinese, is now concentrating on regaining his position as Nigeria’s starting goalkeeper.
His performance may put pressure on Stanley Nwabali, the team’s favorite option in previous international games as the Super Eagles get ready for a pivotal qualifying run.
