SDP Suspends National Chairman Shehu Gabam and Two Other Officials
Three national officers have been suspended immediately by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) due to accusations of misbehavior, financial misappropriation, fraud, and egregious abuse of office.
According to reports, the party suspended Chukwuma Uchechukwu as its National Youth Leader, Nnadi Clarkson as its National Auditor, and Shehu Gabam as its National Chairman.
Araba Aiyenigba, the SDP National Publicity Secretary, made the announcement of the suspensions in a statement.
He clarified that a resolution at the SDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, which took place at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, October 23, 2025, led to the suspension of the national officers.
According to Aiyenigba, the NWC’s move complies with the party’s constitution.
In accordance with Article 19.1, 19.301), and Article 19.5 of the 2022 Social Democratic Party Constitution (as amended), the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) exercised its exclusive authority on June 24, 2025, and suspended the following underlisted Party officers on the basis of a prima facie case of misconduct, financial misappropriation, malfeasance and fraudulent activities, gross abuse of office, and other violations and violations of the Party’s Constitution. They are:
1. Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the National Chairman up until now
2. The National Youth Leader, Mr. Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu 3. Mr. Clarkson Nnadi, the National Auditor up till now.
“The action came after the Disciplinary Committee’s report and a White Paper that examined the conclusions and suggestions regarding the accusations made against the impacted officers were adopted,” the statement said.
The White Paper’s recommendations regarding certain SDP operations, notably those of some alleged disloyal members who were detained after breaking into the party’s national secretariat in July, were also discussed by the NWC during the meeting.
The SDP pledged to put the paper’s suggestions into practice in order to bring back the party’s internal order, discipline, and integrity.
The National Working Committee also reviewed a different report that described how some disloyal and nonconforming party members, including Messrs. Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu, entered the party’s National Secretariat by force during the unholy hours of Monday, July 28, 2025, and were apprehended by law enforcement.
The party said, “The Nigerian Police have arrested and detained these bold intruders and confiscated valuables and sensitive official documents that were stolen from the SDP Secretariat. They are currently facing charges in a court of law after being arraigned against them.”
