Senator Abbo Denies Rape Allegation, Labels It a Planned Smear
The Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja has denied reports that Ishaku Elisha Abbo, a senator who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 9th and early 10th Senates, was there on June 29, 2025, to rape a 13-year-old Secondary School student at his Katampe residence in Abuja.
The troubled former senator was reportedly in police detention on Thursday, according to claims that surfaced online, for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old secondary school student.
According to the report, the victim’s family further stated that Senator Abbo made repeated attempts to silence them by providing money to the girl’s father. It also emphasized that Senator Aishatu Binani, the 2023 Adamawa governorship candidate, paid them a visit to discourage them from continuing the case.
In a conversation with several Senate reporters on Friday, Senator Abbo responded quickly, calling the accusation “baseless, unfounded, and mischievous.”
Abbo claimed he was at his home in Abuja on Thursday and wasn’t even in a police station, much less under arrest.
“My political critics are responsible for the aforementioned report,” he declared. Political adversaries are waging a well-planned smear campaign to disrupt my tranquility.
However, Senator Abbo acknowledged that he had just informed the police about a female money-middlingster’s desperate lunge at him.
He went on to say, “I personally reported the desperate female money changer to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and we were both invited for questioning. However, a few weeks later, I was reading or hearing a completely different story.”
