Sowore, Ejimakor, Kanu’s Brother Arrests Highlight Growing Instability – Ohanaeze Youth Council

The recent arrests of Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor, and Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, have been described by the Ohanaeze Youth Council, or OYC, as illustrating Nigeria’s impending anarchy and political instability.

According to the youth group, the current climate of intimidation, harassment, and tribal victimization surrounding the federal government’s handling of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, has highlighted a glaring breakdown of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s rule.

Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the national president of the pan-Igbo Youth group, signed a strong-worded warning on Friday, denouncing the executive recklessness of Bola Tinubu’s administration and claiming that Nigeria is headed toward anarchy, which is being planned as a last-ditch effort to silence voices of opposition, justice, and reason in advance of the general elections in 2027.

Nigeria’s current situation under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership is unstable, like a ship about to capsize after being hit by a cyclone, the Youth Council claims.

Activist Omoyele Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), and the organizer of the first phase of the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, was arrested at the Federal High Court in Abuja last Tuesday morning by President Tinubu’s anti-human rights Nigerian police, it said.

The arrest of peaceful protesters, including Nnamdi Kanu lawyer Bar Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emma Kanu, Barrister Kingdom Nnamdi Okere, and others, during the peaceful FreeNnamdiKanu protest on October 20th was ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun. These individuals were then arraigned at Kuje Magistrate Court and placed under remand in custody at Kuje Prison.

“President Bola Tinubu must take immediate action to order the release of Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emma Kanu, Barrister Kingdom Okere, and others, and commence a process of national healing and true reconciliation to prevent the recurrence of the Madagascar and Napel crises in Nigeria.

“Comrade Igboayaka suggested that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu take into account the advice of distinguished Nigerian leaders, pursue a political solution, drop all charges, and effect his unconditional release in light of the growing international demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom.”

Igboayaka observed, “The case of Nnamdi Kanu underscores the problem of selective justice against the Lgbo people, potentially undermining Nigeria’s stability due to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s actions.”
