Tension Rises as Sowore Responds to Police Summons with Full Entourage
On Wednesday, Omoyele Sowore, a well-known activist and former presidential contender, will respond to a summons from the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit in Abuja.
On Tuesday evening, the activist confirmed that he and other activists and freedom fighters will storm the Force Headquarters.
Sowore called on all “revolutionary comrades, citizens of conscience, voices of resistance” to join him, saying he would be “going with a full house.”
According to reports, Sowore was invited for questioning by the police in a letter dated August 5 in response to a petition alleging criminal defamation and forgery.

Sowore had already sent a letter to the police unit asking for the petition’s text and author.
But in return, the Monitoring Unit requested that Sowore come in person for interrogation, pledging to reveal the petition then.
There are signs that a new protest could start while the event is going on.
Sowore announced that the #EgbetokunMustGo campaign and the #PoliceProtest will begin today in a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.
