Terror in Kebbi: Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Three Immigration Officers
In an attack at Bakin Ruwa, near the Maje border in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, suspected Lakurawa terrorists killed three Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) personnel.
It was discovered that the attack, which happened at midnight on Thursday, has caused anxiety and terror in the neighborhood.
According to a source who spoke to Leadership, the officers sought refuge in a nearby mosque. However, the gunmen pursued them and started firing sophisticated weapons, lighting the mosque on fire while the officers were inside.
During the attack, the officers’ quarters were also destroyed by the terrorists.
As of the time this story was filed, no formal statement on the occurrence has been issued by the relevant authorities.
Major General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has promised to take strong action against the Lakurawa terrorists, who have been terrorizing northern Nigeria.
During his screening in front of the Senate, Shaibu, who was just appointed by President Bola Tinubu, made the promise.
Lakurawa is a new bandit group, and the Army will take decisive action against them. It necessitates a comprehensive approach to society. Even though security is expensive, we will make sure that the resources we have are managed effectively,” he assured MPs.
In his account of his military service, the new Army chief mentioned his position as a commanding officer in Borno State, where he actively participated in counterinsurgency activities.
