One of the songs on the well-known British rapper Dave’s latest album, The Boy Who Play The Harp, makes fun of Nigerian strikers.

Dave asserted in the song “Chapter 16” that Nigerian strikers fabricate their age by drawing a connection between them and women who do the same.
He raps, “Like Nigerian strikers, he’s lying about their age.”

Many have accused Dave of generalizing in his diss tune, which has caused controversy online.
Due to his parents’ emigration from Edo State, Nigeria, Dave has Nigerian ancestry while being a British citizen.

On his latest album, The Boy Who Play The Harp, he has worked with Nigerian musicians Burna Boy, Wizkid, and most recently, Tems.

Age-cheating controversies have been alleged to occur often in Nigerian football at all levels, including the national teams.

The U17 men’s football squad in Nigeria was previously disbanded because of widespread age-cheating.
