The horrific killing of five worshippers at an early morning prayer in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, has been denounced by former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode.
He stated via his 𝕏 account that there should be no space for talks or compromises and that the murderers must be eliminated.
Fani-Kayode said that the murderers were terrorists rather than bandits and characterized their acts as war crimes.
“These are not bandits,” he wrote. Don’t call them bandits, please. They should all be eradicated from the face of the planet because they are terrorists and vicious murders.
“We have nothing if our people are unable to worship God in harmony. No conversation, no ransom, no rehabilitation, no negotiation.
“This is war.” Destroy their neighborhoods and homes, eliminate their bloodline, and kill them all. Those who murder defenseless citizens have no place on this planet.
Kwara State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with neglecting to handle the state’s worsening banditry problem.
According to reports, a devastating attack that killed a number of locals and vigilante members took place in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area, on Sunday.
Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party’s publicity secretary, called the massacre “a despicable and senseless act” in a statement released on Monday.
He called the state’s state of insecurity a “colossal leadership failure” and blamed the governor for it.
“The graphic videos of the casualties that are going around the internet give the impression that Kwara is at war right now,” Adewara added. Under AbdulRahman’s leadership, there is no longer any safety, terror is rampant, and kidnappers are capturing remote areas.
The opposition party criticized AbdulRazaq for his purported inaction and lack of presence in the impacted town, arguing that a competent leader ought to have traveled to Oke-Ode in person to express sympathy to the relatives of the victims and promise prompt action.
Additionally, it charged that the governor was directing funding to “footballers and entertainers outside the state” while ignoring local vigilantes and security guards who were “battling criminals in the bush.”
The PDP’s criticism coincides with growing anxiety in Kwara North, where locals have been forced to leave their farms, schools, and businesses due to recurrent bandit assaults.
