In Malam Fatori, a crucial border hamlet on the outskirts of Lake Chad, soldiers from the Nigerian Army and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) repulsed an early attack by fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Security sources claim that at approximately 4:30 a.m., the terrorists started a concerted attack on the Forward Operating Base, or FOB, Kangar. utilizing mortar fire, armed drones, and swift ground movement in an effort to take over the military installation on Tuesday.
After a heavy gunfight, the forces, assisted by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), reportedly held their ground, reorganized, and launched a counteroffensive that caused the rebels to retreat.
The action was reinforced by ground attack aircraft from the MNJTF’s Nigerien component and reinforcements from the main battalion, which targeted the terrorists’ fire positions and neutralized a number of them.
The assault was successfully repelled by the combined effort, and the forces were able to preserve operational control and strong morale.
The terrorists were reportedly spotted running toward the canals in the Tumbun area, according to security sources.
