Kolawole Babawale, 53, has been taken into custody by Ondo State Police Command agents for allegedly sexually abusing his niece and helping to terminate her abortion twice.
The 16-year-old victim revealed that her uncle had repeatedly sexually assaulted her before reporting the suspect to the police station.
Olayinka Ayanlade, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, claims that as soon as the command received the information, its gender-based offenses unit sent out agents, who sprang into action and took the suspect into custody.
The woman further claimed that the suspect performed the act nearly every day and used a piece of cloth to wipe her private area after each incident.
It’s shocking to learn that the suspect had twice assisted in ending her pregnancies. The Command’s Gender-Based Offences Unit acted swiftly after receiving this alarming report, apprehended the culprit, and painstakingly prepared the case for prosecution.
Since then, he has been remanded in custody until a new trial after being arraigned before a court of competent authority. The Command reaffirms its steadfast dedication to defending women’s and children’s rights.
