At the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, the Nigerian Flying Eagles defeated Tunisia 1-0 in a fiercely contested Group B match to begin their 2025 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.
The game’s hero was Auwal Ibrahim, a midfielder for Akwa United, who scored the game-winning goal in the 37th minute. In addition to giving the Flying Eagles the three points, his performance was so impressive that he was named Man of the Match.

Nigeria, who are vying for a record-tying ninth Under-20 AFCON championship, maintained their poise and fortitude during the difficult match against the Junior Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. In a closely contested match, Ibrahim’s goal proved to be the difference despite numerous offensive attempts from both teams.
