Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations in Nigeria have apparently been restored by the US Air Force.
The US Air Force ISR mission is focusing on ISWAP zones of influence in Borno State, northeast Nigeria, on the outskirts of Lake Chad, according to Brant Philip, a security expert for West and East Africa.
According to the security expert, US planes departed from Accra, Ghana “as usual, still not using a Nigerian airport.”
He had said earlier in the day: “Today the aircraft did not take off for the first time in twelve consecutive days of daily ISR flights by the US Air Force over Nigeria from Accra, Ghana.”
The bulk of the USAF aircraft’s twelve-day missions targeted ISWAP and IS-Sahel strongholds in the states of Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kwara, Niger, and tiny portions of Ekiti and Kaduna.
“This coincides with the announcement of incoming “next actions” made by Representative Riley Moore during his visit to Nigeria.”
