Verydarkman (VDM), a well-known social media commentator, has reacted to recent remarks made by Olanipekun Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in a televised interview.
During the interview, Olukoyede stressed the value of a fair trial and advised against denouncing former militant commander Oweizidei Thomas Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for alleged naira note defacement.
VDM responded by sharing a video of a disturbing interaction with EFCC investigators. He claimed that EFCC employees threatened to shoot his friend in the leg while pointing a gun at his mother while they were at a bank. He claims that despite no official charges being brought, the agency took his phone and car under duress and that he has not yet been able to get them back.
He said that the EFCC’s public position on fair treatment is a sharp contrast to the way he was allegedly treated. VDM also hypothesized that the agency’s actions might have been motivated by his confiscated phone.
VDM declared Tompolo a friend and cautioned the EFCC against holding him in custody. If something bad happened to Tompolo, he promised to publicly expose and shame the agency.

VDM raised additional concerns about the agency’s consistency by bringing up the son of well-known businessman Chief Okoya and implying that the EFCC neglected to investigate him in a comparable situation. Additionally, he blamed CBEX scammers, accusing the organization of failing to prosecute them and claiming that focusing on naira mutilation could deplete its funds.
VDM challenged the EFCC to re-examine the contentious film, claiming that Tompolo was not seen spraying money in it.
VDM revealed in another section of his statement that he intends to petition the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) about a problem in a market in Anambra. After the complaint is formally received, he encouraged the authorities to take action.
The ongoing conflict between VDM and the EFCC is exacerbated by this development. His accomplice, Dkokopee, expressed public alarm after the commission allegedly held him in a secret location just weeks prior. After being held for a few days, he was eventually freed.
