Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior is aggressively negotiating the terms of his contract renewal with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Vinicius is apparently using discussions about a potential Saudi bid as part of his approach. According to sources, no formal offer exists.
The Brazilian forward is regarded as one of Real Madrid’s standout players, and he was previously on the verge of signing a contract extension at the Bernabeu.
Vinicius is now signed with the club until 2027 and is one of the highest-paid players on the team, although the details of a new contract are still being worked out.
These conversations take place in the midst of a difficult season for Real Madrid, who, following their recent El Clásico defeat, face the risk of concluding the season without any trophy, with Barcelona expected to win the title.
According to previous rumors, Vinicius was offered a lucrative five-year contract worth £830 million to play in Saudi Arabia, as well as the opportunity to serve as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup.
However, Marca reports that the player does not currently have a specific offer from Saudi Arabia to strengthen his negotiation position with Real Madrid, and the contract extension is still pending.
According to the Spanish site, there is a disparity between Vinicius’s desired compensation increase—raising his annual earnings from under €17 million to around €30 million—and what Real Madrid expects.
His current contract, signed in 2022, puts him on par with other top earners such as Kylian Mbappe, who joined the club last summer. In comparison, Jude Bellingham was offered more favourable conditions following his outstanding rookie season in 2023-2024.
Vinicius’ agents at Roc Nation Brazil are said to have prioritized talks with Saudi Pro League clubs in order to move the negotiations along. Nonetheless, there is no definitive rival offer in place.

Vinicius is hopeful about extending his time at the Bernabeu, despite a small downturn in form this season. However, the club’s leadership has expressed alarm over his conduct.
If a Saudi offer is accepted, there appear to be supporters within the club who would back his move to the Gulf state, just a year after he came close to winning the Ballon d’Or.
Vinicius is certain that an agreement will be reached before the appointment of head coach Xabi Alonso.
In February, he commented, “I have a contract until 2027, but I have always said that I want to play here for a long time, to make history and to be loved by the fans, as well as the president, all of the players, and the coaching staff.
“God willing, I hope that the negotiations can be resolved soon so I can stay here for much longer.”
