Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as “Kwam 1,” is a Fuji music singer who has come out to defend himself against claims made by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) officials on Wednesday that he brought alcohol on a ValueJet aircraft.
On August 5, Kwam 1, who was on board the aircraft, was allegedly observed drinking from a flask that violates airline policies on a ValueJet flight. A flight attendant approached him, suspecting that the flask contained alcohol, which is prohibited on Nigerian airlines.
The legendary singer reportedly refused to give up the flask when the flight attendant asked him to, claiming that “it was medication prescribed by his doctor.”
In a video that our journalist was able to view, the musician was disputing with airport ground staff about the flacks’ content.
On August 6, the NCAA declared that two pilots would be suspended in connection with the incident that took place at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The pilots began departure operations from the assigned bay without following the required pre-flight clearance procedures, the NCAA said.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) displayed unruly conduct while attempting to board a ValueJet flight,” the Fuji star, KWAM1, stated in a statement released by his media assistant, Kunel Rasheed. We want to make it clear that this story is not just inflated but also false,” the statement said.
Kwam 1 clarified that the item that caught security’s notice was only “plain drinking water” that was given to him in the lounge; it was neither illegal nor anything that could jeopardize flight safety.
“The incident was needlessly escalated despite his polite attempt to clarify this.
“The airline’s chairman and managing director, the head of airport security, and representatives from pertinent organizations like the FAAN and NCAA would not have personally appealed, apologized, and even set up a free private jet to transport him to Lagos if there had really been anything improper about his behavior. K1 politely turned down the offer in spite of constant pressure from the airline’s top management.
Kwam 1 described himself as the only individual impacted by the incident, saying, “Only he and his assistant were directly involved.” A few worried travelers who were there at the scene urged him to maintain his composure, acknowledging the excessive strain he was under.
“It is important to note that the pilot involved now has her license suspended,” he added in response to rumors about the pilot. It is understandable that she would try to shift the blame given the situation; she must undoubtedly lie to hide her identity.
