The BoT and NEC meetings of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mohammed Abdulrahman, the factional National Chairman, have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 18. This faction is loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
According to reports, the National Executive Council and Board of Trustees meeting agenda was revealed in a notice sent by Sam Anyawu, the factional National Secretary.
The announcement stated that the PDP National Secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja, would host the sessions.
“Attendance is very important because important issues will be discussed and addressed,” Anyawu said.
Recall that on Saturday, a different PDP group that supports Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde hosted its national convention.
Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, Samuel Anyanwu, Dan Orbih, and others were expelled, according to the convention, which was chaired by Umar Damagum, the immediate past acting national chairman.
The State Working Committees in Abia, Imo, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River were also abolished in a broad motion.
Along with other party leaders, governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau) were present.
Governors Mutfwang and Fintiri, however, have openly disassociated themselves from the expulsion process.
The dismissal of the FCT minister and his supporters is perceived as the most recent development in the ongoing conflict between Wike and the PDP Governors’ Forum, which is headed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
