Alhaji Munnir Haidara, the chairman of the Kaura-Namoda Local Government region in Zamfara State, has accused Sadiq Chiroma, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the region, of sabotaging the party even before he formally defected to the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement released on Sunday in response to Chiroma’s departure, Haidara made the assertion.
Haidara claims that Chiroma’s behavior prior to and following the most recent state assembly bye-election aroused grave doubts about his allegiance.
He said that the previous PDP chairman was “frequently seen secretly interacting with APC stakeholders in the state,” characterizing these interactions as blatant transgressions of the PDP constitution.
Haidara further asserted that Chiroma openly opposed the party’s chances of winning the bye-election and disclosed private party tactics.
The chairman of Kaura-Namoda also connected Chiroma’s purported influence to the recent defection of Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, the PDP’s former state assembly candidate.
He said that long before Chiroma left, the party was fully aware of his “anti-party activities.”
Haidara asked locals to keep supporting ongoing development projects and stated that the PDP in Kaura-Namoda is still grateful for Governor Dauda Lawal’s “people-oriented projects” in the region.
He wished Chiroma luck in his new party but cautioned that after defecting to the APC, he would “reap what he sowed.”
